Client Wins £6,500 for an Ankle Injury Claim

An AWH Client has been rewarded £6,500 for an ankle injury claim after uneven flooring at her place of work caused her to trip and injure herself.

What Was the Case?

Our Claimant had an accident during her employment on the 25th of June 2018 where she worked as a Business Administrator. She had been employed by them for around 3 years.

The incident occurred in the foyer of the building where the office is located. The floor of the foyer was uneven on that day due to work being undertaken. As a result, our claimant twisted her left ankle and then subsequently fell forward. As she fell, she impacted her left shoulder against the wall, however, she did fall to the floor. Despite the symptoms she was experiencing, she stayed at work.

After the accident, she has had concerns, predominantly regarding her left ankle. Additionally, she felt that she may have had a very slight awareness of discomfort within the left shoulder, possibly for a few hours after the incident.

She attended urgent care in Runcorn where she had an x-ray. Results showed that there was no bony trauma identified. She was given an aircast boot with regards to the left ankle which she wore for 6 weeks. Since the incident, she has seen the GP around 2 or 3 times. An MRI scan of her left ankle was organised, but she could not attend as she developed gastroenteritis symptoms.

Additionally, due to her injury, she had to have assistance from her sibling, a physiotherapist.

The Claimant has since recovered from the incident.

What Was the Outcome of the Claim?

The Defendant denied liability initially but thereafter admitted fault and settled once the medical reports were disclosed regarding her ankle injury claim.
