Our solicitors have helped win compensation for a man injured by dangerous scaffolding

One of our industrial disease solicitors has recently settled a public liability case for a man who was permanently scarred by an unmarked scaffolding pole.

What was the case?

Our client was walking home at around 8pm on a January evening. There was not suitable lighting and there were no signs to warn him of a scaffolding pole that was sticking out dangerously into his path. Hitting his head on the pole, it caused a deep cut in his forehead which eventually left him with permanent scarring even when it had healed.

Whilst it was argued during the case that our client may have been drinking on that evening, medical records did not support this claim at all.

Public Safety

Anyone on a public street is entitled to feel safe. Your personal safety shouldn’t be put at risk by sudden hazards that you can’t anticipate. If, like our client, you have been injured in a public place, then we can help you find out whether you are entitled to compensation to help you on the road to recovery.

The outcome

Despite a compromise of splitting the blame being presented, our solicitor chose to refuse this as it would mean that our client would then only receive 67% of any offer. This then led them to agree on a reasonable offer of settlement that fairly compensated our client, and he ultimately received £4,250.
