Rebecca Ellison
Legal Advisor
Background
I am a Legal Advisor in the Housing Disrepair department at AWH with a background in industrial disease claims, primarily noise induced hearing loss claims.
I have 4 years of experience representing Claimants in both pre-litigated and litigated noise induced hearing loss claims, leading my clients from the very start of their claim, up to the point of a trial. In November 2018, I joined AWH Solicitors in the Housing Disrepair Department as I wanted to broaden my expertise within the civil litigation field and considered Housing to be an interesting and broad area of the law, especially in light of the recent implementation of the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018.
I handle my own case-load of pre-litigated housing disrepair claims, taking my client’s from the very start of their claim to a point whereupon it is prepared for litigation.
In my spare time, I enjoy to travel and take photographs of the sights and people I experience along the way. I have visited over 50 Countries and would say that India is my favourite Country whereby in 2014, I spent 3 months travelling across India and visiting over 30 Cities/Towns.

Motivation
I think it is key that you develop a strong relationship with your clients, which I always strive to do and enjoy doing as I believe it makes the claim process an easier one for the Claimant. I enjoy speaking to my clients about their issues and providing sound legal advice as to represent them to a high level and applying the Law to argue their case.
I enjoy securing my clients an award which reflects the hardships they have faced, whether it be a personal injury or a housing disrepair matter. I enjoy the fact that I have been able to help and bring a little bit of added happiness to my clients lives whether it be a significant compensation figure and/or repairs carried out to their property.
I am keen to ensure that all of my clients have access to justice, particularly those that have little assistance or guidance in their day to day life.
I am motivated by my client’s and their stories and the positive feedback I receive from them when we have obtained the result we wanted. It brings me great pleasure to know that I am having a positive impact on people and their lives’ by assisting them.
I chose law because it is intellectually challenging and personally fulfilling. I enjoy listening to people’s stories and helping them in difficult situations which they may be unable to resolve themselves.
